Rave Flyer

Rave Flyer example frame

Early-90s chrome type, airbrushed gradients and clip art, printed cheap and given away.

What it does

The UK rave flyer of 1990 to 1994 was produced fast on early DTP by people learning the software in public: chrome-bevelled type, lens flare, airbrushed gradient backgrounds, clip-art dolphins and smileys, and every effect the application offered used at once. It was A6, printed cheaply in high volume and discarded. The excess is authentic to it, so restraint reads as wrong.

The prompt

An early 1990s rave flyer for [Subject]. Chrome-bevelled display type with lens flare, an airbrushed gradient background from magenta to cyan, clip-art elements and a smiley motif, drop shadows on everything. Multiple typefaces competing, text crammed to the trim edge. Printed cheaply on thin gloss A6 card with visible dot gain and a slight registration shift.

Replace [Subject] with what you are shooting. Everything else is deliberate: the gear, stock and lighting are what push a generator towards this look.
