What it does

Storm Thorgerson and Aubrey Powell built their album sleeves in camera: a real burning man on a real Warner Brothers backlot for Wish You Were Here, six hundred iron beds actually carried onto a Devon beach. The rule is that the impossible thing is photographed rather than composited, lit by ordinary daylight and framed plainly, so the viewer cannot locate the trick. Deadpan presentation is what makes it unsettling.

The prompt

A Hipgnosis-style album photograph for [Subject]. One impossible or absurd element staged physically in a real location and photographed straight, plain flat daylight, no dramatic lighting, no visible compositing, a plain frontal composition with a wide horizon. Medium-format colour film grain, slightly faded 1970s Ektachrome palette. Deadpan, no explanation.

Replace [Subject] with what you are shooting. Everything else is deliberate: the gear, stock and lighting are what push a generator towards this look.
