Scissored press photography reassembled at wrong scales to make an argument the originals never made.

What it does

Hannah Höch, Raoul Hausmann and John Heartfield cut from illustrated magazines and reassembled the fragments so that scale relationships became the argument. Heartfield's AIZ covers against the Nazi party are the sharpest political use: a photograph is trusted, so a photograph rearranged carries that trust into a claim. The cut edge must stay visible. Blending the seams turns montage into retouching and destroys the point, which is that you are being shown the assembly.

The prompt

A Dada photomontage for [Subject]. Black and white press photographs cut out with visible hard scissor edges and reassembled at deliberately wrong relative scales, a head far too large for its body, a machine part standing in for a limb. Slight drop shadows where pieces overlap. One element in flat spot red. Halftone dot visible in every fragment because each was cut from a printed magazine. Assembled on grey card.

Replace [Subject] with what you are shooting. Everything else is deliberate: the gear, stock and lighting are what push a generator towards this look.
